Topic: Smart Duplicate Identification

Hi,
     We all read RSS(which is why BB is installed) from various sites. Now the problem is most of the Articles are duplicate. In other words, same items appear on numerous sites we are syndicating. For instance same post on multiple Blog sites such as jroller and javablogs. Whats the point in reading the same news in multiple feeds?
   Sharp Reader I think has this feature and I would like to see same one in BB too. That is of automatically identify duplicate feeds and remove(hide) them. Then I will see one news in one Feed only. All duplicate ones are automatically removed/hidden(configurable).

Interesting. I noticed a lot of duplicates too. Adding a ticket... thanks for suggestion!

I wholeheartedly agree: after trying Mac and Windows readers as well as online readers I am now completely loving your program. (Don't get what the whole library thing adds for me personally though smile )
This is the one feature that is missing: you already have synching issue resolved which is one of the biggest advantages of online readers/gator-soft.
If you could somehow:
remove/flag duplicates
or
build a smart guide that only shows your river of news without articles that have the same text/links.

Also if you could add a feature in 3.0 to Block certain feeds containing certain words/characters. For instance when syndicating few sites, it contains non-readable binary chanracters - those boxes characters or p*rn words etc. I would like to see Smart Duplicate Identification and Block feeds feature in 3.0 smile

Not sure about new features in 3.0 as we entered the stabilization phase, but I think that De-duplicate and smart blocking possibly will make their way in the post-3.0 releases. Thanks!

What is the status of this request?

This problem is increasing and becomes really annoying. A SmartFeed checking the title and content similarity should be enough to remove duplicates.

And, the number of occuring duplicates could be an additional way to rank or color posts.

Joerg, I don't like hearing that you are increasingly annoyed smile

It turns out that this feature already exists, but, it is not in the basic version of BlogBridge. It's an advanced feature available only through the Publisher version for which we charge $25 per 3 months use.

(I fear that fact will annoy you as well, but, please understand from our point of view.... BlogBridge is nowhere near being a profitable enterprise, so I hope our users understand when not everything is free.)
